The River Valley Zoo is a popular attraction in the city of Edmonton. It is home to about 350 animals, including the beloved Elephant Lucy. It is a large complex with over 800 different stores, over 100 places to eat, and even its own hotel, waterpark, and amusement park. The structure covers a gross area of over 5 million square feet! And the parking lot has enough stalls for over 20,000 vehicles!
Downtown Edmonton is home to many businesses and venues, one of which Roger's Place, the home to our city’s great NHL hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton regularly turns out to support the home team! Our Convention Centre is a busy spot as well, with a variety of functions and events going on year round.
We are also very proud of our Universities in the city. The University of Alberta is situated on the south side of the city, while the Grant McEwan University has it's campuses right down town.
For people coming in for a visit, we have many fine hotels and accommodations. And the Edmonton International Airport (YEG) located about 30 minutes from the city centre.
